Relationship Depression

Relationship Depression

…(submitted 2010-03-06)
Those people who aren’t in loving relationships are usually actively looking for that special person to share their life with. Few people choose to be alone. You want someone to be there for you when things aren’t going well and to share the joy when they are. The more common interests you have, the more you can enjoy each others company. Unfortunately, relationships don’t always end up being what both persons imagined from the beginning. If expectations aren’t met, then the relationship can be further complicated by one person’s depression.

For even more advice on how you can deal with relationship depression check out How To Deal With Relationship Depression Here

Relationship depression can occur when one person exercises a need to completely control the other person. They tell them how they should behave, what they should say, and how they should dress. It usually starts gradually and then ends up with one person being in complete control of the other. Even though you may feel…

Dealing With a Relationship Breakup | Relationship and Love Advice

…It might be hard to believe but taking your time is probably the best way for dealing with a relationship breakup. There are other things that you can do, but the old saying time heals all wounds is true. Unfortunately, if you’ve been together for many years it can take even more than a year to get over the break up. But like I said, there are steps you can take to mitigate the pain and take your focus away from it.
Do new things that interest you and that you and your ex didn’t do. Doing something creative or spiritual can give balance to your life. When holidays and birthdays come around, create new traditions to replace the old ones you may have had with your ex.
Make a schedule for your days. Give yourself things to accomplish. After a break up it’s easy to develop a feeling of low self-worth. By getting things done, you can work at building your self-worth. Also, this takes the focus off your relationship.
You need closure. Box up reminders of your relationship and put them away. Stop having contact…

Relationship Communication

Relationship Communication - Relationships are easy in the beginning.

…I read this blog entry and it’s too much information for me let’s just talk about the relationships being easy part.
Why does it have to be easy anyway?
First of all, if something is easy it’s usually not worth all that much.
A more honest way to look at it would be to say that relationships take a lot of effort, Is it worth it?
So, right away you are thinking, How much effort are we taking about here?
Well, it depends on what you want to end up with. If you put a little into your relationship then that’s what you will get out, a little.
The Martian dream is that a relationship is like a bicycle that once you get it going, you don’t have to keep pedaling, you can just keep riding forever without effort. That metaphor describes both a bicycle and a relationship that are going downhill.
A long term intimate relationship can be the vehicle that will take you lovingly into the rest of your life or it can be many boring frustrating years of giving up what you really wanted. You decide but either way it’s not…

Check out the latest study and new test devised to help you predict the strength of your relationship.

…Check out the latest study and new test devised to help you predict the strength of your relationship. From Denny: Leave it up to medical researchers to figure out a test that can tell us when to make a fast exit out of a relationship. The things these guys study… :)Researchers believe they have devised a test that can tell if a relationship can hold together or fall apart. They think they can predict the strength of a relationship. Human relationships experience a lot of emotional pain and it seems we are forever looking for that pain avoidance - at least in American culture. Well, what if we did know exactly when it was a good idea to exit that romantic relationship? Figuring out whether to break up or stay together is often a wrenching decision for most people. So, what if science has figured out a way to make the process easier? The University of Rochester researchers who did this study, and devised the test, say it involves discovering what people really think and feel about their partners. That sounds…

Teen Sex Not Always Bad for School Performance

There’s good news for parents who worry that their teenagers’ sex lives are affecting their school performance: A provocative new study has found that teens in committed relationships do no better or worse in school than those who don’t have sex.

…LOS ANGELES There’s good news for parents who worry that their teenagers’ sex lives are affecting their school performance: A provocative new study has found that teens in committed relationships do no better or worse in school than those who don’t have sex.
The same isn’t true for teens who “hook up.” Researchers found that those who have casual flings get lower grades and have more school-related problems compared with those who abstain.
The findings, presented Sunday at a meeting of the American Sociological Association in Atlanta, challenge to some extent assumptions that sexually active teens tend to do poorer in school.
It’s not so much whether a teen has sex that determines academic success, the researchers say, but the type of sexual relationship they’re engaged in. Teens in serious relationships may find social and emotional support in their sex partners, reducing their anxiety and stress levels in life and in school.
“This should give some comfort to parents who may be concerned that their…

For 34 years, she has obsessed about food, relationships, work, and her mother — but now Cathy the comic-strip character is about to say goodbye.

…and Wake Me Up When I’m a Size 5 (1985). An early collection from 1982 had a cover showing Cathy on her sofa, surrounded by her TV, snacks, and a teddy bear. The title: Another Saturday Night of Wild and Reckless Abandon. Guisewite began the strip when she started working in the mid-1970s, said Lee Salem, president and editor of Universal Uclick. “Cathy Guisewite would send her mother drawings describing the latest trauma in her life as a single young career woman, and in response, her mother urged her to try her hand at a comic strip,” Salem said in a statement. “The day the submission arrived in our office, we had a contract out to Cathy in return mail. Seven months later, the strip began in newspapers.” It wasn’t an immediate hit, but Cathy steadily gained popularity and eventually appeared in hundreds of newspapers. There are more than 30 Cathy books. “Cathy has held a distinguished place in newspaper comic sections for more than three decades because of Cathy Guisewite’s skillful hand,” said Salem….
